CSP's - COUNCIL SHOULDER PATCHES
GREAT SALT LAKE COUNCIL SHOULDER PATCHES ARE IDENTIFIED AS CSP’S
The Great Salt Lake Council was chartered by the Boy Scouts of America on May 19, 1919. For many years, the council name was not reflected in uniform wear because community strips were worn identifying the city and state of an individual’s residence. Gradually, two piece strips with the council name rather than a community name were worn to identify status as Scouts, volunteers and professionals within the council.
The two piece council strips eventually evolved into a one piece council identification strip.
In 1971, the Council Shoulder Patch (CSP) took on its present shape and emblems were added

SA-41 El-Ku-Ta CSP The first Order of the Arrow CSP, commissioned by Weston Blaney, Lodge Chief, was designed by David L. Munford, to help celebrate Utah’s Centennial. This gray border patch was distributed to the members of the O. A. 1500 were made.
SA-42 El-Ku-Ta CSP This is a collector’s edition with a silver mylar border. This Patch was sold in a set with 4 other O.A. commemorative patches, framed, matted, numbered, and certified. David E Halliday was the Lodge Advisor. 200 sets were made.
SA-153 This Blue border night scene was commissioned by the Council Lodge Advisor. This is the first Council Shoulder Patch to be designed to go with a lodge flap and chevron, for a three piece set. A first in celebrating the 50th Anniversary. The set was commonly referred to the Night Scene.
SA-174 CSP This white bordered CSP was made for the EL-KU-TA Lodge Memorabilia Auction and Trade-O-Ree held at Camp Tracy in October 2009. The patch features the State Bird, the Seagull above the winter Uintah Mountains. It has a companion O.A. flap. Blair Hope was the Chairman over the event. David L. Munford was the artist. 200 patches were made.
SA-186 CSP This silver mylar bordered CSP was made for the BSA 100 year celebration Great Salt Lake Council Jamboral 2010 held at Tooele, Utah. This CSP features E. Urner Goodman who was the founder of the Order of the Arrow. Jim Davidson was the event chairman. David L. Munford designed the series. 600 patches were made.
SA-192 CSP OA 2010 SEGO LILY STATE FLOWER
This green bordered CSP was made for the El-Ku-Ta Lodge for the Memorabilia Auction and Trade-O-Ree Held at Camp Tracy in 2010, it features a spring color scheme. It has a companion OA Flap. Blair Hope was the advisor over the event. David L. Munford designed the series. 200 patches were made.
SA-217 CSP This green bordered CSP was made for the El-Ku-Ta Auction, held in November, 2011. The patch features a summer color scheme with the State tree, the Blue Spruce. Blair Hope was the Chairman over the event. Designed by David L. Munford. 200 were made.
SA-233ELK, STATE ANIMAL CSP This orange bordered CSP was made for the El-Ku-Ta Auction held in October, 2012. It is a companion to S-53. The patch features a fall color scheme with the Utah state animal, the Elk, in the center. Blair Hope was over the Auction. The CSP was made by Celestial Creations and designed by David L. Munford. 200 were made.
SA-266 This Patch was made for the 2013 Auction for the El-Ku-Ta Lodge, held at Tracy. The patch was obtained by donating $50.00 worth of memorabilia or cash for the auction. There is also a companion CSP, S-56. Blair Hope was the chairman. The artist was David L. Munford. 250 were made
